Old-age pension
The Luxembourg statutory pension sums a flat component tied to your years of insurance and an accrual component tied to the sum of your career earnings. This section covers both components, the retirement age, and the two early-retirement routes, from Livre III of the Social Security Code.
What the pension is made of
The Luxembourg old-age pension is the sum of two components, both priced with the same annual rate table. The flat component ("majoration forfaitaire") accrues one fortieth for every year of insurance, capped at 40 years — it scales with how long you have been insured. The accrual component("majoration proportionnelle") applies a rate to the SUM of your whole career’s revalued earnings — not an average, a total. For pensions awarded in 2026, the rates are 25,075 % for the first component and 1,763 % for the second.
This section is an independent reading of Livre III of the Social Security Code (CSS), cited on every page. It is not confirmed by any authority and does not replace an individual statement from the National Pension Insurance Fund (CNAP).

Qualifying for an ordinary old-age pension
Entitlement opens at 65, for anyone with at least 120 months (10 years) of insurance under the main affiliation provisions. There is no route to a pension on a long career alone, at any age — age is always a condition, including for both early-retirement routes.
